Relationships that grow
TangySweet Photography has partnered with the amazing Ms. Molly, owner and director of Astoria Preschool Dance (APD), to help document the journey of many little dancers in Astoria since 2011. Over the years, I have witnessed pee wee dancers in pre-step classes blossomed into graceful young ballerinas in third-step classes! Molly's own two girls were among them. Both are now in one of the top ballet programs there is in NYC (sth that sounds like ah-ham American Ballet Theatre). Top that!
Molly is kind of my personal shero -- a mother, a teacher, a dancer, a mompreneur, an icon to this community as her business offers quality and affordable place for kids to express themselves through dance. Yes to movement, ballet, and tap but also SUPERHERO CLASS! Because she gets it! I am truly blessed to have her in my court: Check out her classes http://astoriapreschooldance.com/
Each of the passing years was uniquely special. But this year marks a new kind of excitement. There were several extraordinary family traditions, including my own. My littlest one was sporting her older brother's first pair of tap shoes, which he had learned to maneuver through Ms. Molly's school 6 years prior. In addition, one student bedazzled the shoot with her green dress and sequin bodice that highlighted her pale green eyes, toppled with her bright smiles. But it was her late ballerina mother's pointe shoes around her neck that floored me. Chills to my spine. What a moment that was! Another student prancing in the spotlight in her jazzy hot pink outfit, once belonged to her older sister. I was told her mother planned on framing the pictures side by side.
I will admit I have been feeling like a fish out of the water and having many moments of doubts while hustling the business side of it, so I am truly grateful for these moments that serve as a reminder me why I love the craft of photography.
The memories. The human stories. The real-life connections.
